In this article, we highlight some great construction industry resources that you can follow, so read on to discover some new favourites. 

Construction Enquirer

For those wanting to stay on top of the latest industry news, Construction Enquirer is a fantastic place to start. Their website posts numerous articles each day on an array of topics related to the construction industry, ranging from new projects and personnel changes at big companies to legal battles. Construction Enquirer also features a jobs section, directory, as well as various data sets pertaining to the industry, such as the top 100 contractors.

On the Tools 

Many of those in the construction industry, and plenty of those who aren’t, have heard of On the Tools, a social media enterprise that aims to connect construction workers, while sharing funny videos, images, and ‘on-site banter’. Their Facebook page has over 2 million likes and nearly 5 million followers, posting regular content that won’t fail to provide a laugh or two. When it comes to building resources, one of the premier outlets is certainly The Construction Index. The leading construction resource for news and information, The Construction Index will keep you tapped into UK-specific industry news, global news, and the latest updates on equipment, legal affairs, and contracts. The Construction Index also has a great podcast you can add to your rotation, where veteran construction industry journalists Bishop and Taylor chat about the latest goings-on and events.

Women in Construction Leadership Podcast

You can never have too many podcasts on the go and the Women in Construction Leadership Podcast will be a valuable addition to your playlist. On this podcast, hosts Sunny Bowman and Missy Scherber, both presidents of construction companies, come together to reframe the attitude around the construction industry by putting women at centre stage. “We believe the passion and drive of women within the construction sector inspires innovation and energizes a new generation to take up the trades, recast the dialogue, and stamp out the stereotypes.”

Go Construct

Attracting new talent to the construction industry is important. If this is something that you are passionate about or if you are looking to get into the industry, Go Construct is a wonderful construction resource to follow. Go Construct is an industry-wide initiative aiming to attract, inform and retain a talented and diverse workforce in the construction sector. They believe there is a role in construction for everyone, whether you are good at maths, science, woodwork or computers.

Their website has some fantastic career advice, education resources, and info on getting started, and their Twitter (@GoConstructUK) posts tips, videos, and photos, such as tailoring your CV, constructing a LinkedIn profile, and sharing volunteer opportunities.

Looking for some great new video content? The B1M is a massive YouTube channel which looks to share its love of construction with the entire world. Hosted by Fred Mills, the channel is the most subscribed to video channel for construction in the world and each video focuses on an awesome construction project. The content is both inspiring and educational and doesn’t overstay its welcome at about 10 minutes per episode.
